Valtioneuvosto julkaisi hiljattain tuoreen hallintasuunnitelman, josta selviää haitallisten vieraslajien torjuntaa koskevat linjaukset. Listauksessa on mukana yhteensä 26 eläin- tai kasvilajia. Kasveista kiireellinen on erityisesti kurtturuusu (Rosa rugosa), joka on erityisen haitallinen hiekkaisilla merenrannikoilla, sillä niihin levittäytyessään se syrjäyttää alkuperäisen merenrantalajiston. Se menestyy hyvin myös monilajisilla kivikkorannoilla, rantaniityillä ja kuivilla rantakedoilla.
