China frees consulate staff as HK protesters target lampposts
HONG KONG --- Chinese police said Saturday they released an employee at the British Consulate in Hong Kong as the city's pro-democracy protesters took to the streets again, this time to call for the removal of "smart lampposts" that raised fears of stepped-up surveillance. Public security authorities in Shenzhen, the mainland city bordering Hong Kong, said Simon Cheng Man-kit was released as scheduled after 15 days of administrative detention. The detention of the locally hired consulate employee stoked tensions in semi-autonomous Hong Kong, which has been rocked by months of antigovernment protests, including one to oppose new smart lampposts that activists fear could contain ...Keep on reading: China frees consulate staff as HK protesters target lampposts

75 years later, US World War II veterans say: Never forget
PARIS --- Seventy-five years ago, they helped free Europe from the Nazis. This weekend, U.S. veterans are back in Paris to celebrate --- and commemorate. Now in their 90s, these men aren't afraid to cry about what they saw in World War II. And they want everyone to remember what happened back then so that it doesn't happen again. "The veterans, all the veterans of World War II, I think we saved the world," said Harold Angle, who came to France with the U.S. 28th Infantry Division in 1944, and recounted his experiences to The Associated Press in Paris. "To be under the domination of a dictatorship like the Hitler regime and some of the terrible, terrible things that they did. ...Keep on reading: 75 years later, US World War II veterans say: Never forget

The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office rejected Brady's application to take control of the nickname on Thursday, ruling that it "points uniquely and unmistakably to Tom Seaver." It adds that giving Brady a trademark for "Tom Terrific" might lead people to conclude the Hall of Fame pitcher endorses any products, rather than the New England Patriots quarterback. Brady has said he doesn't even like the nickname and was just trying to trademark it to keep others from using it without his permission.
