Duque seeks order for DOH to release health workers’ Bayanihan 2 allowances

MANILA, Philippines --- Health Secretary Francisco Duque III requested President Rodrigo Duterte on Wednesday to issue an administrative order that would allow the Department of Health to release the meals, accommodation, and transportation (MAT) allowances of health workers who had not received the benefits under the already expired Bayanihan 2. The MAT allowances total some P2.51 billion and would be given to 423,000 healthcare workers, covering the period September to December 2020, Duque said in Duterte's first taped televised briefing this week. Trump testifies over bodyguards’ 2015 clash with protesters — lawyer
NEW YORK -- Ex-president Donald Trump testified Monday in a lawsuit brought by activists who say they were attacked by his security guards six years ago, a lawyer for the plaintiffs said. "We can report at this time that Donald John Trump sat for approximately four and half hours under oath and answered questions concerning the events that occurred outside of Trump Tower on September 3, 2015," attorney Benjamin Dictor told AFP. Several activists of Mexican descent brought the lawsuit alleging that Trump's bodyguards violently broke up a protest they were holding outside Trump Tower in New York. Goodbye Kanye West, hello Ye: Judge approves name change request
NEW YORK -- The artist formerly known as Kanye West is now officially Ye. Just Ye. A Los Angeles judge granted the 44-year-old's name change request, a communications officer at the Los Angeles Superior Court told AFP on Monday. The mercurial performer had filed the request in August, citing "personal reasons." The name change now means the Grammy-winning rapper and producer no longer has a last or middle name. His previous full name was Kanye Omari West. In 2018 Ye released an album by the same name, a moniker he's long used as a nickname. "I believe 'ye' is the most commonly used word in the Bible, and in the Bible it means you. So it's I'm you, I'm us, it's us," ...Keep on reading: Goodbye Kanye West, hello Ye: Judge approves name change request

Facebook shifting to virtual reality version of internet
PARIS---Facebook on Monday announced plans to hire 10,000 people in the European Union (EU) to build the "metaverse," a virtual reality version of the internet that the tech giant sees as the future. Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has been a leading voice in Silicon Valley hype around the idea of the metaverse, which would blur the lines between the physical world and the digital one. The technology might, for example, allow someone to don virtual reality glasses that make it feel as if they're face-to-face with a friend---when in fact they are thousands of miles apart and connected via the internet. All in the mind
There was no doubt in Chot Reyes' mind that TNT would get back in the PBA Philippine Cup Finals. Yes, cocky as he may have sounded, that was for this season. "When we were going through all our team development stuff, preseason and all that, we already pictured ourselves here, in the Finals," he said on Sunday night on the heels of a masterful 97-79 Game 7 semifinal victory over powerhouse San Miguel Beer. "We saw this before," he added, and such belief, according to Reyes, was actually born of ambition and not arrogance. Reyes said he was merely tapping into the suggestive powers of the mind.
