Linda Evangelista Reveals Her Face, Jaw And Neck Were Taped Back For Vogue Cover Shoot
Linda Evangelista has revealed that “tape and elastics” were used on her face, jaw and neck for her cover shoot for British Vogue. The supermodel was candid about the measures that were taken for the photoshoot after she underwent a cosmetic procedure that she says left her “brutally disfigured”.The iconic supermodel recently settled a lawsuit with Zeltiq CoolSculpting after a fat-freezing cosmetic treatment led to her developing paradoxical adipose hyperplasia (PAH), a rare adverse effect of the procedure in which fatty tissue grows instead of shrinking. For her return to the pages of the fashion bible, the 57-year-old’s make-up artist Pat McGrath gently drew her face, jaw and neck back with tape and elastics.View this post on InstagramA post shared by British Vogue (@britishvogue)“That’s not my jaw and neck in real life – and I can’t walk around with tape and elastics everywhere,” Linda told the magazine.“You know what, I’m trying to love myself as I am, but for the photos… Look, for photos I always think we’re here to create fantasies. We’re creating dreams. I think it’s allowed.“Also, all my insecurities are taken care of in these pictures, so I got to do what I love to do.”Elsewhere in her emotional interview, Linda admitted that she would never have undergone the cosmetic procedure if she had known of the possible risks involved.View this post on InstagramA post shared by British Vogue (@britishvogue)“If I had known side effects may include losing your livelihood and you’ll end up so depressed that you hate yourself… I wouldn’t have taken that risk,” she said.To counter the side effects of her procedure, the 57-year-old revealed she has undergone liposuction and tried extreme diets, but nothing has had the desired result.Linda said: “I have incisions all over my body. I have had stitches, I have worn compression garments under my chin, I’ve had my entire body tightly girdled for eight weeks – nothing helped… I was losing my mind.”View this post on InstagramA post shared by British Vogue (@britishvogue)British Vogue reported that Linda is still struggling with her self-image, can no longer look in the mirror or have have anyone touch her body. The Canadian star insisted: “Am I cured mentally? Absolutely not. But I’m so grateful for the support I got from my friends and from my industry.“I miss my work so much, but honestly, what can I do? It isn’t going to be easy. You’re not going to see me in a swimsuit, that’s for sure. It’s going to be difficult to find jobs with things protruding from me; without retouching, or squeezing into things, or taping things or compressing or tricking…”The full feature is in the September issue of British Vogue, which is available from Tuesday. Read the full interview with Linda at www.vogue.co.uk.READ MORE:Supermodel Linda Evangelista Poses For First Photos Since Claiming Cosmetic Surgery Left Her 'Brutally Disfigured'Linda Evangelista Opens Up About Procedure That Left Her 'Disfigured' As She Covers British VogueLinda Evangelista Settles Lawsuit Over Cosmetic Procedure That Left Her 'Brutally Disfigured'

Liz Truss Accused Of Supporting 'Devastating' Public Spending Cuts
Liz Truss has been accused of showing “her true colours” after a 2009 paper promoting vast government spending cuts was unearthed. The Tory leadership frontrunner called for patients to be charged to see their GP and for doctors’ pay to be slashed by 10%.She floated the ideas in a controversial report she co-authored when she was deputy director of the Reform think-tank.Labour said Truss’s report from 13 years ago, entitled “Back to Black”, revealed that “the reality of her agenda is devastating cuts”.The report also called for the abolition of universal child benefit, the removal of the winter fuel payment, and the axing of several major military procurement projects including the Royal Navy’s planned aircraft carriers HMS Queen Elizabeth and HMS Prince of Wales – which were described as “inappropriate defence projects”.It was resurfaced by TalkTV on Thursday and was also reported by the i paper in January.Truss’s campaign attempted to distance the Tory leadership candidate from the paper, telling TalkTV’s The News Desk: “Co-authoring a document does not mean that someone supports every proposal put forward.“Liz is focused on her bold economic plan to boost growth, cut taxes and put money back into hardworking people’s pockets”.But Labour pointed out she had led the promotion of the report in articles for both The Spectator and ConservativeHome.Labour deputy leader Angela Rayner said: “Liz Truss’s track record shows her true colours. She is out of touch and out of step with the public.“The reality of her agenda is devastating cuts that risk national security, punishing patients already facing record waiting times and cutting the pay of frontline workers.“Her desperate attempts to distance herself from her own views now will fool no-one.”Polls have consistently put Truss as clear favourite to win the race for No.10, with elections guru Sir John Curtice saying he would be “extraordinarily surprised” if she does not take office. He told The Times that the foreign secretary “would have to foul up in some spectacular fashion” for her rival Rishi Sunak to enter Downing Street.Truss and Sunak will take part in a hustings in Manchester on Friday evening, as the pair continue to criss-cross the country to try and shore up the support of Tory members.Related...Labour Demands Recall Of Parliament Amid Bleak Cost-Of-Living WarningsLabour Membership Down By 130,000 From Corbyn-Era PeakThe Number Of UK Families Facing Fuel Poverty This Winter Is Shocking

The Mountain Goats: Bleed Out review – a concept album that leads with bloody revenge
(Merge)Shot through with pop-culture references, this 21st album from the indie rockers is brilliantly executed but offers limited emotional depthOne might think of John Darnielle as a more emotionally and musically forgiving counterpart to Mark E Smith: determinedly following his own prolific path, and if it’s him and your granny on bongos, it’s still the Mountain Goats. On his 21st official album he’s in the concept game again. Previous records have been inspired by role-playing games and an adolescence of listening to goth bands; now Bleed Out takes its lead from the bloody revenges exacted by the protagonists of action movies, set to indie rock that veers from folky to near metal in Wage Wars Get Rich Die Handsome. It’s not a novelty record – Darnielle has said he is fascinated by the fact that revenge seems so appealing precisely because it’s unavailable to those who don’t live in action movies – but it’s shot through with pop-culture references, and images that are familiar to anyone who watches movies in which gun-toting men pursue their nemeses. Training Montage’s title is utterly on the nose: it describes the set-up everyone has seen a thousand times. Cliches are nailed throughout the album, down to men who “have loosely gathered / To stand in doorways / Making small talk / About the weather”, in Guys on Every Corner. Continue reading...
