Twelve South Launches 'StayGo' USB-C Hub With Eight Ports
Twelve South today launched a new product called the "StayGo," which is a portable hub that connects to USB-C MacBooks and MacBook Pros. Note: MacRumors is an affiliate partner with Twelve South and Amazon. When you click a link and make a purchase, we may receive a small payment, which helps us keep the site running. According to the company, the hub restores all eight legacy ports and connections to modern Mac notebooks. This includes: three USB-A ports (USB 3.0), one 4K HDMI port, one Gigabit Ethernet port, two USB-C ports (one for power input and one for connecting to the computer), and independent SD and Micro-SD card ports. The StayGo comes with a 1-meter cable that is long enough to hide the accessory and its connected cables out of sight when you're working at home. The company is pitching the new device as a combination home and travel companion, which means that it also includes a 6-inch travel cord (seen below on the right) that stores inside the hub. StayGo is available for $99.99 on TwelveSouth.com and at Amazon.Tag: Twelve SouthThis article, "Twelve South Launches 'StayGo' USB-C Hub With Eight Ports" first appeared on MacRumors.comDiscuss this article in our forums

From #TelegramGate to #RickyLeaks: Puerto Rico is on
Two weeks ago, Puerto Rico's Center for Investigative Journalism published one of the most consequential investigative stories in the island's history: a trove of leaked private Telegram chats between Governor Ricardo Rossello and his most senior advisors and officials, in which the group use crude, homophobic and misogynist labels to mock and degrade opposition figures, Puerto Rican celebrities, and the people of Puerto Rico as they struggled with the aftermath of hurricanes Maria and Irma, left to swelter and die by a local and national government that had abandoned them. Since then, Puerto Rico has been roiled by mass demonstrations, initially calling for Rossello's resignation, but now for deep, structural reforms to an island whose long history has been one of colonial occupation, oppression, and looting. The protests have been led by feminists and queer activists, supported by the likes of Ricky Martin, a beloved, gay Puerto Rican pop star who was targeted for homophobic slurs in the leaks. As they've gained strength, the protests have drawn out more and more people from all walks of life -- with the vanguard still made up by political radicals who will not accept cosmetic compromises. The Puerto Rican government has responded with riot squads and violent suppression, in a spectacular miscalculation that has only brought out more people. To make things worse, the police appear to have manufactured a casus belli by setting off fireworks behind their lines, a fraud so transparent that it has robbed them of any credibility they had left. Apple’s ‘iPhone 11’ reportedly includes Lightning port, new Taptic Engine, and updated front-facing camera
Photo by James Bareham / The Verge Apple is reportedly planning to release three new “iPhone 11” models this fall that will include the existing Lightning connector. 9to5Mac reports that these new iPhones will include Apple’s latest A13 chip and a new Taptic Engine that’s codenamed “leap haptics.” There aren’t many details about what this new Taptic Engine will provide, but it’s clearly going to replace the 3D Touch feature that looks like it’s on its way out. We’ve seen a number of leaks focus on the cameras in the iPhone 11 previously, and Apple is expected to use a triple-camera system on its OLED iPhone 11 models. 9to5Mac backs up previous rumors that the extra space in the rear camera system will accommodate a wide-angle camera. This new camera will also enable a new Smart Frame feature, which will reportedly capture the area around the framed part of a picture so you can adjust the framing and perspective. The front-facing camera on the iPhone 11 will also reportedly get upgraded to make it capable of capturing in slo-mo at 120 fps. Apple is expected to keep the same display resolutions as the existing iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR, and these new models look set to simply replace Apple’s current lineup. We’re less than two months away from Apple likely unveiling these updated handsets, so expect to hear a lot more rumors about the software and hardware aspects in the coming weeks.

Improve Your Critical Thinking at Work
Helen Lee Bouygues, founder of the Reboot Foundation, believes that a lack of critical thinking is responsible for many business failures. She says organizational leaders often rely too heavily on expertise and then jump to conclusions. Instead, leaders should deliberately approach each problem and devote time thinking through possible solutions. The good news, she says, is that critical thinking skills can developed and practiced over time. Bouygues is the author of the HBR.org article “3 Simple Habits to Improve Your Critical Thinking.”

Fulham ready to bounce back after learning from last season’s mistakes | Dominic Fifield
The chaotic recruitment policy pursued before their brief return to the Premier League has been replaced by sensible planning, headed by their manager, Scott ParkerIt was as the conversation ticked inexorably towards the hour that Tony Khan issued the closest thing yet to a rallying cry. The Fulham vice-chairman and director of football operations had been talking with the excellent podcast Fulhamish late last month, addressing the issues which had contributed to a traumatic one‑season stay in the top flight and the sense of anticlimax which had accompanied the club’s slump back into the second tier. For all his enthusiasm for social media, the audience felt rare, even bold given the club’s lack of activity up to then in the transfer market. Yet, with additions and a key contract renewal pending, Khan’s outlook had been bullishly optimistic for the campaign ahead. Continue reading...
