Report: Apple is giving the 13-inch MacBook Pro a new keyboard next year
Apple may have announced a new MacBook Pro with a 16-inch screen last week, but it seems the star of the show was the new keyboard. Well, ‘new’ is something of a misnomer. Apple finally realized the butterfly keyboard it introduced with the 2015 MacBook kinda sucked, so the company reverted to scissor switches to much acclaim. Now a new report from DigiTimes (via MacRumors) claims Apple plans to launch a new 13-inch MacBook with an improved keyboard in the first half of 2020. Though DigiTimes has a spotty track record, it does corroborate reports from reliable Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. Ben-Hur at 60: why the biblical blockbuster doesn't hold up
In 1959, the religious epic won 11 Oscars and became a box office hit but in the years since, its status as a classic hasn’t worn quite as well as the year’s other smashes“The entertainment experience of a lifetime,” trumpeted the poster for Ben-Hur upon its release in 1959. It was an absurdly pompous claim that the universe nonetheless did its level best to reward, as if to justify the film-makers’ sheer commitment to scale: at the now quaint-sounding figure of $15m, William Wyler’s epic was at the time the most expensive film (with the largest sets) in Hollywood history, with a marketing budget nearly as high as the production one. Sure enough, audiences and awards voters took them at their word. Ben-Hur swiftly took its place behind only Gone With the Wind in the all-time box office charts, and roared through the Oscars with 11 wins – a record that stood alone until Titanic and The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King equalled it decades later. The life and career of John Legere, the unconventional T-Mobile CEO who just announced he's stepping down next year
T-Mobile CEO John Legere is stepping down from his position in May 2020, the cell service provider announced Monday. Legere has served as CEO since September 2012 and was compensated $66.5 million last year, making him one of the highest-paid executives in the US. Legere, 61, is known for his eccentricities, including sporting T-Mobile's bright magenta branded gear and hosting cooking livestreams on Facebook. Visit Business Insider's homepage for more stories. T-Mobile announced Monday that its CEO, John Legere, will be stepping down from his role in May 2020 after over seven years of heading up the mobile service provider. Legere, 61, is credited with T-Mobile's growth from struggling company to the third-largest carrier in the US. Since taking over T-Mobile in 2012, Legere has made efforts to overhaul the company's culture and brand. Legere is just as well-known for his unconventional demeanor as a tech exec, choosing to frequently wear T-Mobile magenta clothing, littering presentations with curse words, and even riding a Segway around the office. For his role, T-Mobile paid Legere $66.5 million in 2018, making him one of the highest-paid CEOs in the US. Prior to Legere's departure from T-Mobile, rumors swirled that he was being considered for the role of CEO of the embattled startup WeWork, which has had a disastrous year and recently lost its chief executive. But Legere denied that rumor, and said he was "never having discussions" with the office-sharing company. Here's what you need to know about John Legere, whose reign as T-Mobile CEO will end in May 2020. John Legere was born in 1958 in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, and was a track star in high school. He reportedly wanted to a be a gym teacher until he found out how little he would get paid, so he decided to study business instead. T-Mobile Source: Wall Street Journal, CNBC Legere went on to attend the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where he graduated with a bachelor's degree in business administration. He later got a master's degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and a business degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University. UMass Amherst/Facebook Source: T-Mobile Legere ran on the UMass track team, and has continued to run through his tenure at T-Mobile. We tried KFC's new Nashville Hot Chicken and Waffles and found it blows the regular version out of the water
Erin McDowell/Business Insider When we heard that KFC was set to launch a brand new version of their iconic Chicken and Waffles, we knew we had to get our hands on the spicy new addition. Not only were we impressed by the juicy, perfectly crispy chicken, but we were pleasantly surprised by the manageable spiciness of the Nashville hot oil. The meal truly came together, however, with the addition of a sweet, fluffy Belgian-style waffle drenched in maple syrup.  It was fast food at its finest, and we savored every last bite. Sign up for Business Insider's retail newsletter, The Drive-Thru, to get more stories like this in your inbox. Visit Business Insider's homepage for more stories. Why have plain chicken and waffles, when you could have chicken and waffles with an extra kick? Fans of KFC's chicken and waffles will be pleased to know that on November 18 spicy versions of the meal will be arriving in locations nationwide for a limited time. While KFC has been selling its Nashville Hot Chicken since January 2016, this marks the first time that patrons will be able to taste it alongside Belgian-style waffles. Meals come in multiple options: a waffle sandwich, a three-piece tender meal, or a basket including one breast, two-piece thigh, and a drumstick. The Nashville Hot Chicken can also come as part of KFC's Big Basket meal deal. When we first heard about the launch of KFC's new Nashville Hot Chicken and Waffles meals, we knew we had to get our hands on the waffle combos ourselves. The 'cats can have little a salami' meme is the best kind of meme
Cats can, famously, have little a salami. But can cats really have little a salami? The "cats can have little a salami" meme is the best kind of meme: a single sentence applied to every possible post like a gorgeous, nonsensical chorus. (See: "They did surgery on a grape.")  The phrase comes from a typo in a blog post called "Can My Cat Eat Salami," which was published in 2017 by San Diego-based salami and sausage company The Meatmen. (The business is no longer in operation.)
